So, here's a thread to introduce yourself.
I'm Ryuu (occasionally known as Jen MacMillian) and this is partly my fault, as I suggested finding recepies based on D'ni (inspired in turn by a thread on the XKCD forums about chor bakh, a food from the Myst novels)
At present I'm suffering from a wrist injury (And this post is taking FOREVER TO WRITE with one hand) so I won't be able to do much. Soon as I'm back though I'll start posting some of the stuff I've found as well as my own thoughts and general guidelines concerning the foods of Myst.

Seems silly that the boards have been up a little over two weeks and I've still yet to properly introduce myself, so...
I'm Printehr, but my friends can call me Dan (hope that expands to include all of you!). I've been a fan of the Myst games since I was a kid, but never got around to signing up for Uru Live... imagine my disappointment when, now that I've got the time and money to support my MMORPG habit, and after rushing over to the Myst Online site, I discovered that it was going to be shut down AGAIN!
Thems bitter apples.
But I persevered. I downloaded the free trial and explored the Cavern even as it things neared the end. And I went from lurking on several Myst/Uru boards to becoming a full fledged poster.
And I came up with this great idea... I was sure I was the only one who had thought of it... what did the D'ni eat? I mean, I knew about the references in the Book of Tiana to Chor Bakh and Ihkah Nihjuehts, but those couldn't have been the only two dishes that they had. A food lover myself, I decided to hit the boards and start asking questions.
Imagine my surprise when I found that Ryuu had already gotten around to it, and that there were others out there who also wanted to know more about D'ni cuisine! I started asking around if others would be interested in resurrecting the ancient D'ni Guild of Caterers, and that led to this very board...
So that's my story. Hope to see this place grow and prosper, and I hope we can produce some recipes that would make the D'ni chefs of old feel proud!
Oh, and Ryuu... how's the wrist? ;D

darn black outs now I forgot what I was typing
I was introduced to the Myst series when it first came out by my boss, I then went and got the game myself and since then have been threw every age I could get to. When the End of Ages came out I was kinda sad knowing the series had ended, until I discovered Uru Live. a wonderfully place that just ain't the same without the people. I am very grateful that Cyan has decided to reopen the Caverns for us and am anxious to return.
As a child I was heard saying "theirs nothing to eat in the house" so I was told to make something. I started with grilled peanut butter sandwiches (with out banana thank you Miss Presley) and since then have cooked everything from Pizza to Angel food cake. When I find a recipe I like I search the Internet for other ways of preparing it so I can get an idea of other options I can use for what I am making, and for the most part it usual turns out rather well.
After I found out about the Guild of Caterers I remembered the recipes I left in Bevin and figured it was perfect, I know about cooking and very little about age making so I figured "now this is a Guild I can sink my teeth into"
I Look forward to seeing this Guild becoming a regular influence in the New D'ni but also realize anything worth doing take time.
well I think thats the short version of what I wrote before the black out shut my PC down. See you in the caverns

Glad to have you with us, carkadann! Thanks for being patient with us, we're starting out small but like you said, anything worth doing takes time... and it won't be that long before we're running the whole Cavern! ;D

I got hooked on Myst when I bought a computer that came with it back in the olden days I started cooking when I was a small child and have been experimenting with recipes ever since. The idea of creating a D'ni inspired cuisine is simply fabulous ;D I have developed a killer Bolognese sauce that began life as a recipe from an Italian opera singer. This is the base sauce I use for most of the Italian dishes I make. I created an authentic Texmex taco seasoning when all of the prepackaged ones I saw had strange fillers like milk and sugar products! Because I am cow milk protein intolerant (NOT lactose intolerant) I use authentic cheeses and milks in my recipes. For example; water buffalo Mozzarella, sheep and goat Feta, sheep Roquefort, sheep Manchego, and sheep Romano. BTW, many people are misdiagnosed as lactose intolerant by doctors who are ignorant about protein intolerance due to their cultural (doctor) bias.

Welcome to the Guild, Teana! Glad to have you aboard. Care to share your sauce recipe in the Surface Food board? I wanna see how it stacks up to my mamma's famous spaghetti sauce. ;D

So I should intro myself too, I suppose (lead by example ) I'm Soniclight, aka Andrew, and I love Myst. And food. Good combination then. I started playing Myst and Riven in 1999, nearly died when I visited Presto Studios site and saw the intro with Myst III, and haven't stopped playing since. I played URU during it's MO:UL incarnation, and like any self respecting Myst fan bought a D'ni cutting board from Myst Wear. I found this board by way of URU Obsession back in (looks up date), wow, April of this year. I'm happy this guild popped up as none of the other guilds really appealed in the sense that I could apply this to my day-to-day life. And I like cooking....but only when I want to. And I'm a slave to recipes.....I digress. Aside from the guild and myst, I'm a college student (Creative writing [go figure] and after that Library Sciences and off the Britain hopefully), work part time at the library.....read, a LOT, write, play games, and complain.....a LOT. Anyway, that's me! Hope to see more of you around in the future!
